BTW, Down Syndrome kids can have increasing medical problems as they get older. The demands on time can escalate beyond belief.

I guess I’m somewhat relieved she never made it to the VP’s office, then. And the Presidency would be wholly out of the question.

I don’t have any problem with her resigning in favor of tending to her family. In fact, it would have been nice to hear her say so. Immediately hitting the lecture circuit after resigning, though, suggests that personal time isn’t so much of an issue.
