quite true…to get this situation back in our favor somebody is gonna die and I’d rather it not be our guy…give the pirates whatever they want and be done with it…all this deep water fire power is ridiculous…get our guy back and then go take care of business ashore

Giving the pirates what they want is no longer an option, from the “world opinion” political viewpoint. Even the French sacrificed a hostage today in a statistically successful raid.

Personally, I would have put a small hole in the hull of their boat 48 hours ago, and then “negotiated”.
