That’s been my question from the get-go. Without any laws on the books to enforce they can’t do shit. Neither can the neighbors or the family (as Emma called out - bless her, not a criticism of her) except perhaps to have the kid committed or something and that’s iffy and limited. Expensive too. Where’s the money coming from? GOP has dismantled every option. THAT is where the fingers need to point and stay pointed.

I had a discussion with an otherwise mostly sensible friend about this, years ago. He thought there shouldn’t be a NICS check requirement, or any kind of registration, etc. He said we know who shouldn’t have guns, so we can prevent them getting them or take them away. I pointed out he was advocating getting rid of any mechanism for doing that.

He said, “No, I’m not”.

That pretty much was the end of that conversation.
