Why is not buying a blue check “a political stand?” Maybe most people just think it’s dumb, and aren’t attached to that little blue check mark the way you thought they were? Why do you attach such significance to the act of paying your techbro douchecanoe messiah for the privilege of giving him your content?

They’re calling it a “political stand” because the only people who seem willing to go along with this bullshit are hardcore MAGAts and their army of bot followers who have spent years screaming that it was “unfair” that they couldn’t get them but [insert “librul” celebrity] got one without an issue.

It’s the same reason they’re confronting any celebrity or journalist who is speaking publicly about their refusal to pay for a mark and screaming that they’re “elitist” because they won’t pony up $8 a month for a now worthless mark.
