The damage is done. ACORN is breaking up as a national organization, having been convicted by the court of public opinion. Wing-nut Republicans will still be blaming ACORN five years from now for whatever ills them.

I wouldn’t be so pessimistic. The truth is out there now, and this kind of smear campaign won’t get the same traction again. Besides, voting rights groups have survived much worse than this in the past.
