Has to do with the far-Right’s insistence that the reason America’s fallin’ apart is because we’ve moved away from the ideals of…some period in our distant past. I usually peg it somewhere around 1950, but they seem to think even those days were too “liberal.” But part of those ideals is that a woman’s place is in the home, her only job to keep her man happy so that he can bring home the bacon. That single mothers, working hard to support themselves and their kids, are a “sign of the breakdown of society” and cause for derision because they couldn’t find a good man to take care of them.
