Yeah, I don’t think they can afford to go to war over this. It was stupid to suggest that the authorities might bust into the embassy and haul him out, but to respond by granting him asylum when there’s no means to extract him was the wrong way to call the bluff.

Face it, that scum is either living in that embassy for the rest of his life or he’s going to leave in handcuffs.
