What’s the deal with felons and conversion cylinders? They can order them over the internet and take delivery without involving an FFL. As I understand it, a modern “firearm” isn’t manufactured unless the conversion cylinder is in the bp revolver. Take it out, sell the gun and cylinder in separate transactions and again, no FFL required.

So it seems like a huge gray area. As far as felons are concerned, does separate ownership of the revolver and CC constitute constructive ownership of a modern firearm?

IIUC, most states ban felons from owning them but they have to get caught before it’s an issue because no one checks. And really it’s easier for most crooks to get a modern handgun via a straw purchase than to futz with conversion cylinders. Usually that’s some dude who just misses hunting because he got a pot bust 20 years ago.
