George Bush has nothing to do with it. It was the culture in that small town that allowed it to happen.

And that aspect of that culture was repudiated by the state of Texas as thoroughly as could be done. Compare that with Palestinian “honor murders” where the killer gets a short sentence he serves only a few months for or even is not punished at all. Both are murders, both caused by severe cultural problems, but the US actually worked to correct ours.
