We didn’t carpet bomb Iraq. Airpower has changed significantly from where we engaged in total war and carpet bombing entire cities to where we now have ability to target with precision a single building/structure from great distances (GPS, laser- and other targeting systems). So, it’s not necessary to carpet bomb - having B-52s load up with a full load of dumb bombs and line them up in Linebacker formation bombing runs.
