That Bodnar guy exemplifies why we keep the military under civilian command, and why we send journalists in with them. First, the civilian command defines the mission, defines what ‘winning’ means, and defines what is and is not allowable to achieve the mission. People hyperfocused on ‘winning’ get you Pyrrhic victories. Second, the military works for us. We have a right to know what they do in our names. Period.
