My family recipe for cold potato soup is…peel, cube and boil a bunch of potatoes until soft. Drain but leave a little water. Stir in some sour cream, add salt and pepper to taste. Serve with fresh rye bread and butter.

Kind of a peasant vichyssoise, but still better than most of my Hungarian recipes that begin with: Steal a chicken…
