I understand what you’re saying Summer, I really do. But when it comes to my opinion on whether or not thousands of my countrymen should be put in harm’s way I can’t base my decision on someone being a bad man.

Yeah. It’s definitely a valid reason for Saddam’s removal, and I agree that more of that kind of thinking would have helped avert Darfur, Rwanda— but is it a valid reason for the US to have gone to war with Iraq when it did? Especially as that wasn’t the reason originally given to us for going to war? I don’t think so either. We needed to be in Afghanistan and other places if we were intending to fight the war on terror. No one can be sorry Saddam is gone, but I can be sorry about all the American (and other allied) soldiers who are. (not that I wouldn’t be anyway, obviously).

This of course is what ripped the country up for 8 years, and I’m not sure I want to have that battle here all over again. We went. Now we have to deal with it.
