My mother in law’s thought on being a (past) Buddhist. It scared her because her grandma told her not to swat at a moth, it might be a relative. She found that fearful. She converted to Christianity in college.

One of the biggest rat-bastards I ever knew personally was Buddhist. I helped his terminally ill wife navigate the bureaucracy of a local cancer center. He pretended not to be her husband, so as not to be on the hook for the bills.
