Pears are of course a “pome” fruit - they are part of the rose family and very closely related to apples and… loquats. Any of these pome fruits make for great combination with chocolate. Something in the fruit - malic acid? - enhances the chocolaty-ness of the chocolate.
You do realize, of course, that the more examples of your cooking you post you will be obliged to mail us samples?
