re: #309 LudwigVanQuixote

IN other news, power is almost completely out in my area (since yesterday) and is not likey to be resored for a little while.

One might be able to argue that hey hurricanes happen, its just weather. Sure. However, hurricanes do not usually make it all the way up the east coast. They certainly don’t usually do this, this early in the season and while we are at it, this early in the season we are already up to H.

If you couple that with the blizzards that kicked off this year, the droughts across the south that have still not abated, the massive droughts in China, Russia and Africa, the flooding of the Mississipi, the tornadoes and the massive heatwave - making this, a neutral year for el nino and la nina, on track to be the hottest year on record, can you begin to say that the prediction of more extreme weather events is coming true?

I should hope you can… Of course if you doubt that you can look at teh droughts and storms of last year and the year before that…

coming soon is the next el nino cycle - that will make this year look tame.

We’re in a neutral ENSO phase after coming off a rather powerful La Nina phase and look to be heading into another bit of a La Nina. If this is what we get from a freakin’ La Nina, I do not want to experience a full blown El Nino, which is what Hansen is predicting for 2012/2013.
