One of the reason Jews are lefty on economics is more historical than theological… genetic memory, if you will. Throughout medeival Europe and a few hundred more years, and throughout the Caliphate, taxes were assessed on the Jewish community collectively.

I like the capitalist virtues of individual initiative and personal responsibility, but only in the context of us being social beings who live in communities.

And why is it that when investors pool their resources to optimize their investment in the form of a limited liability corporation then this is seen as the very paragon of our system, while when workers or consumers try to do the same, they are derided as communists and collectivists who want to destroy society?

Family Values should be about families - and families need good schools, strong civic institutions and stable communities. Those are collective undertakings that also need a responsible and stable government, which requires a tax base.
