I think the reason she gets any flack at all over it is that it’s become a standard brag for her that she ‘raised’ 23 foster children, (the implication being that she raised them for the usual 18 years minus-a-few) instead of saying she took them in for a limited time and was compensated by the state for her expenses. It was a good thing to do, but she’s the one who’s using it for political points.

True, but basically, I won’t go there. I’m not going to attack the woman for taking in foster kids, or for bragging on it. It’s a better brag than some.

Granted, she makes herself sound a bit like one of those amazing people you sometimes see in People Magazine, who adopt twelve disabled siblings and dedicate their lives to them, which I don’t think is quite accurate, but it’s politics. It’s spin. I’m not rising to the bait. I’m going to count this as a mitzvah that she’s done, unless given reason not to.

Part of it is, it IS bait, as Avrech’s piece shows. They’re just waiting and drooling, hoping someone will attack her about the foster kids, and this can turn into a food fight about how liberals hate people who help children.

Whatever.
