Eliminating sugar is the latest diet fetish. It’s from the same people who buy gluten-free water.

So much nonsense could be eliminated if people just thought of foods from a practical standpoint. Sugar, starch, fat - these are just fuel. They’re not evil, they’re not poison. They’re just fuel. If you’re burning a lot of calories, there’s no problem ingesting a lot of fuel in addition to the other things you need. Eat only fuel, and you’ll end up fat and sick.
