Public radio (NPR) is not available here. We do have some music stations, Christian hate radio, and conservative talk hate radio.

Cable service is not available. For those who have the money for satellite, they do have a wide variety of television choices. For terrestrial television, good luck with that, they’re all Sinclair Broadcasting here.

Internet service is practically unavailable (it is the largest bill I pay, more than my electric and gas combined).

The best I can do is inform people by word-of-mouth, because they sure aren’t going to get a straight story from the media here.

It reminds me of the time the Berlin Wall fell. At that time, I was stationed aboard an aircraft carrier, and had a privately-owned shortwave radio so I could get more than censored news from AFRTS.

Every night I would put headlines on our shop chalkboard that I’d gathered from services such as the BBC or Deutsche Welle.

Every morning we had a parade of people through our shop who came to read the news chalkboard.

Eventually the word got to my department head, who ordered me to quit putting news headlines on our shop chalkboard.
