I would disagree on the need to privatize. I think a lot of the problems with the current healthcare system (and many other areas as well) can be traced to shoddy, inconsistent and murky regulation, as well as improper oversight. I do see a need to fix the problems, but I dont think adding an additional layer of government to any problem is a reliable fix.
