when I moved I left it with my cousin (bad idea number one), and somebody called in that he was suicidal. In that circumstance they take all your guns.

Considering that he had no claim to mine and it was in the wrong state, he decided it was it better to not try to claim it… for which I do not blame him.

Did you try to go and get it, or was it not worth the trouble?
