CBC Marketplace used four pairs of identical twins to debunk the five largest DNA testing companies’ claims that they can identify accurately where you are from. (In some cases the identical twins were not found to be from the same area.)

Part of the problem is using a migrant species and fit it into the idea of nations.

The CBC article calls in a geneticist and other experts to explain both the issues with these companies and their misleading advertising. (For example, leiderhosen are not in your DNA. They describe it as “recreational science” and not actually tracing your ethnic heritage. They point out probably the closest they could get is continent-level. One company even has in its fine print that some of its work is guesswork.)
