I don’t seriously propose a “flat amount” for everyone, but I think it’s useful to show that, for some definition of “fair”, everyone paying the exact same amount is the fairest.

Also, IMHO, a family of 4 that’s not paying ~ 38K/year in federal taxes is getting a good deal, but oddly enough, most families of 4, getting 2 dependent deductions and a mortgage interest deduction, etc, will still whine about taxes.
