I’ve actually found that if I drink, the next morning I have trouble writing. So during times when I’m writing, I’m going to be a teetotaler.

For years i thought I’d write better, like so many writers, if I tanked up and embraced the drunken writer profile.

Turns out to be the exact opposite for me.

I went to a Halloween party one year, last minute. I put on a robe, boxer shorts, tee shirt, flip flops, rolled up a script and put it in one of the pockets with a pint in the other and wore my glasses down to the tip of my nose. “Out of work writer”. :)
