I am also one who is not fond of that grapefruit-rind aftertaste that so many IPAs tend to favor. It’s my palate, what can I say? (Two years living in Germany in the ’80s really helped form my beer tastes.)

One unusual brew I’m rather fond of is from Dogfish Head, called “Midas Touch”. The backstory is that it’s derived from the result of archaeological research into the contents of the beverage flagons and such collected at the site of King Midas’ funeral. How true is that? Hell, I dunno. It’s a good story, and the beer has a really delightful complexity of flavor I haven’t seen too often.
