Additionally, I dunno if anyone else is experiencing this or not, but the site is running absolutely terrible for me, to the point of not responding until maybe 2-3 minutes after I click a button or click into the reply box, on top of video ads forcing me to the bottom of the page and then completely freezing the entire page.

One idea which may help is to disable Flash in your browser. In general Flash is of the devil, and in particular flash ads can be very disruptive.
