Goddamned it. McConnell wasn’t some bulwark against MAGA. He was instrumental in preserving GOP power despite Trump and his incompetence. McConnell extended and expanded MAGA power throughout the government, especially by supporting the insurrection by thwarting impeachment of Trump, but also through his support of Trump nominees to the courts - and throwing the SCOTUS to right wing Christian fascists by denying Obama the ability to seat a replacement before the 2016 election.

McConnell knew how to effectively manipulate the powers of the Senate to maximize GOP power and to sabotage Democrats in Congress and the WH. Few have been more effective at tearing down the norms of the Senate than McConnell.

Enough with the goddamned whitewashing of his atrocious legacy. Just because he spoke slowly and deliberately doesn’t mean he also wasn’t an accomplice to Trump and his disastrous agenda.

Trump wouldn’t have gotten the judicial picks without McConnell blocking Obama picks so that Trump would be able to fill far more seats across the judiciary and SCOTUS than otherwise possible.

Where McConnell differs from the rabble rouser insurrectionists in the House is that McConnell wrapped up all of his choices in “procedure”.

name a signature piece of legislation

and while he got the 2017 tax act through, it wasn’t ‘his’
