You have to be careful out there with your head on a swivel. Look around 360 degrees. Listen for cars. Watch for cars that might be parked and about to pull out. Never assume someone sees you. Never assume people will stop at a traffic signal. All it takes is one simple mistake and before you know it you’re dead. Gone.
I sometimes will tap on the hood of cars I need to go in front of if the driver hasn’t clearly seen me. I got honked at loudly once, but its worth that risk to ensure that the driver sees me before I cross.
