It wasn’t only about girl empowerment, it also subversively mocked the earlier Disney formula of Prince/Princess=instant love at first sight!
The villain is not revealed until the last 10 minutes (clever) and Anna ends up saving herself instead of being resued by Sven (about time)
It was an over due and welcome departure from the princess in peril formula, and the themes of self realization apply to anybody (which is why the movie was an especially big hit with GLBT audiences)
All valid points. I am glad it did well for Disney. I’d still have liked a better plot or more fun or something.
It’s hard to beat Monsters, Inc. or Despicable Me 2.
