i don’t think it’s general. they normally give you “waking” sedation during colonoscopies. Otherwise, it’s even more of a pain in the ass than just the literal pain in the ass that it is. Gotta worry somebody’s gonna die, gotta let people recover for HOURS in the recovery room.

For my recent colonoscopy they used Propofol.
