Regardless of what Ellsberg thinks could have been done better he states:
“Anybody who believes Julian Assange can be distinguished from The New York Times … is on a fool’s errand,” Ellsberg said.

I dont agree with all of what Ellsberg says or of what wikileaks did, however I do agree with Ellsberg on this.
I fail to see how wikileaks is any different to the NYT with its leaks.

Because the New York Times would not release information that could be used to identify informants. They’ve seen where that leads at the hands of La Cosa Nostra.
