I just got caught up on Trump’s “go back where they came from” comments, and he has really bared the ugly racism and xenophobia that lurks behind his furrowed brow.

That should be enough to totally ruin anybody but Trump because he has ushered in the New Media Reality, and pundits all over America are spinning hard to rationalize and relativize his utterances.

Not just his furrowed brow, but the furrowed brow of Movement Conservative all the way back to the founding of the Republic.

As far as promoting religion in politics, the Republican Party has been courting religious piety all the way back to the Third Party System (1850 start) to promote its agenda.

The idea that the Republicans became “God’s Own Party” under Reagan is false. All they did under Reagan was to weaponise it and claim if you aren’t with us, you’re against God.
