Oh, that just sounds like someone with a WIFI signal that is close enough to your modem for it to be picked up. I have my neighbors WIFI displaying on my list of available networks all the time. If that’s it, I wouldn’t worry about it. Do make sure you password isn’t PASSWORD1 or something like that, because if you see theirs, they see yours. :-)

The phantom wifi-Hub appears (occasionally) as a “device” in my Network and Sharing Center on my W7 laptop. I can right click on its icon, and examine its properties, among other things. The properties indicate a MAC address. You don’t get that sort of info from the Connect To thingy in the system tray, which merely lists the wifi names (BSSIDs) my laptop can detect. I’ve taken screenshots.
