My father (mom helped) made bird houses. Bird houses that were decorated in and out. He made a whole western town of them and gave each of his kids and grandkids one. I have a general store, I have ‘bolts’ of fabric and ‘barrels’ of flour in the store.

Wow!
(My stepmother built dollhouses.)
Can I assume these were NOT put outside for birds to use?
