this will be the first election in well over thirty years where there is really strong majority public opinion behind this proposition

I for one doubt that the Obama campaign or the DNC will actually phrase the issue in terms of the need to increase taxes. They will play on the theme that the rich aren’t paying their fair share, but that is where the Democrats will stop - they won’t wander into the bigger picture of conflict between Americans’ expectations and how the universe actually operates.
