Sad news from the Netherlands.

Anyone who has read the Achterhuis, the diary of Anne Frank, is familiar with the Chestnut tree that grew in the back garden of the house. Today the tree was sadly blown over by a gust of wind.

The tree was already in a bad shape. There were calls to cut it down cause it was becoming a hazard. A movement was set up to save the tree from being cut down. The tree got some external supports to keep it up but alas, today the end came.
