Years back my wife went shopping for a new car. She loved the look of the Camaro but being very practical she thought she was ok with the lower insurance rates and mileage on the 6-C auto Firebird.

She was about to make a deal on the car when I suggested we at least test drive the real deal. 5-speed, V8.

She was used to driving a Datsun so, with the salesman in the front seat, she popped the clutch and left the lot burning rubber and thrown back against our seats… she let out a squeel that is only heard in the bedroom.

Yup, we bought the hot rod. Miss that car, and she does too!

In 1967/8 - a friend of mine got his widowed mother to buy a GTO the same way. She didn’t regret it, he didn’t either.
