You’re welcome! It struck me as very similar to the Fiesta pageantry of “royalty”, gowns, parades, etc. (San Antonio totally outdoes Laredo though—it has no less than three parades, one of which is on barges floating down the riverwalk, then there’s the carnival…)

My shop is turning 15 soon, and I was thinking of having a Quinceaera for it, but then I worried about ‘cultural appropriation’ and offending someone who might think doing it for a non-human is wrong, etc. I think we’ll just have cake.
