Yes, and his father has a major flair for the dramatic (which I see a bit in Ahmed as well). Which is part of why this move by that family strikes me as something of a Flounce by the father. Rather than move to a more hospitable place in the US, he chooses to relocate to a Middle eastern country that, whatever offer it made, has problems with justice that dwarf those of Texas.

Texas can, after all, be persuaded to change its laws or policies, as its legislature showed this year by passing a law mandating police body-cameras and setting standards and rules for their use. The Gulf States tend to react violently to the same times of public protest that caused Texas to pass new laws.
