But NBC is a wholly owned subsidiary of GE/Westinghouse, who care very deeply about international sales. ABC is owned by Disney, who may or may not be allowed to release movies in other countries, depending how those other countries’ governments feel about the US at any given moment. Fox News has caused Murdoch problems with various European governments, whose broadcast/satellite licenses can be yanked at any time.
