The national heritage of Israel is just as much secular Jews as it is religious Jews.

When you speak of Israel, you often speak as though Israel is a wholly religious nation made up only of observant Jews. The truth is very, very different from that.

When you say “us”, you’re not including me, a secular Jew, in that. Nor are you including many, many, many Jews in Israel.

When you say this:

You are leaving every Jewish atheist out of the discussion. Or rather, you’re making a claim that carries zero weight.

Positing Israel’s right to land on religion, rather than on being a democracy with the rule of law, is not a good argument.
