Yes there are a vocal group of extreme right Christian types, but they are not a majority.
I think the same would be true in the US.And you would be wrong.
Extreme right Christian types here are a solid majority of the Republican primary voters in more than a dozen states; there are a dozen or so in the Senate, dozens in the House, and several governors.
And they hold absolute veto power over Republican nominees.
