they may be opposed to schooling in general. i’ve heard right wing rants about colleges that are similar to their issues with public schools. some fear indoctrination. others fear that their children will grow up to be different from them. elitist, uppity, arugula eating etc.

I’ve been teaching for six years, and have never fed a child arugula the whole time.
