Is that because African Americans are more likely to have those conditions, or because their pre-existing conditions are more likely to be undiscovered? Pretty sure any parent who knew their kid had heart trouble would have urged them to play violin, or chess, instead of football.

That is the million dollar question. I don’t really know the answer. I could see both being equally correct. The standard sports physical that all potential student athletes must complete(yearly) before playing does not reveal most of these conditions. The testing is pretty expensive.
