Let’s look at it this way. It will also be a monument and a shrine that can remind us that there is subset of this religion, a radical subset, who wants to see us succumb. As far as I’m concerned, this Islamic Center is a big enough “fuck you,” a middle finger on the skyline of that neighborhood, to become a constant reminder that “never again.”

I think it’s also a reminder that a minority group, no matter how detested they may be by the public at large, is protected under our rule of law. And I call that a Big Fucking Deal.
