Part of me wishes he’d lose everything so he could know what it’s like on the bottom rung of the ladder.

A quick look seems to indicate that Fischer got through college (Stanford) and theology school and has essentially been a pastor and/or commentator the entire time since then. Did a stint as a park commissioner in Boise - but I think that was centered around defending a 10 Commandments memorial there.

So it appears he’s been living off parents and/or church flocks and contributions his entire life. Whether or not one wants to hold this as pretty much living off “welfare” the whole time is personal opinion regarding the value of supporting spiritual leaders and advisers.

I guess someone can ask him how ungrateful he feels towards the parishioners who supported him for 25 years.
