This is exactly the case of most Tea Party candidates, and for the TP in general. They were able to just be a blank canvas onto which conservatives could project their ideal of what a conservative candidate would look like.

The longer they actually try to practice politics, the more we see what they are really good for.

Which is why they absolutely detest Scott Brown and want him primaried out next time around, even after they spent so much time and energy putting him in office.
