I’m sure we were breathing the same air at some point. My regular hangout was the Sarene on High Street near 10th—was really close with the house band. Then, on Sundays, when the Sarene was closed, we’d go to the Sugar Shack—I think we’ve talked before about some of the big groups who played there “before they were famous.”

That routine still left time for concerts, other lesser bars, parties and occasional studying while in school/working when I got out.

I remember the Sarene Lounge! Didn’t go there a lot though.

I’m trying to remember who was the house band. It’s not clicking right now, but I bet the minute you mention them, I’ll remember.

I hung at Mr. Browns Decent a little farther down the street.

And the old drunken party place The Castle where I ran sound a few times for some friends bands that played there.

Remember their all you could drink cheap 3.2 beer “Drink ‘n’ Drown nights on Sundays? Damn that was nasty. 18 to 21 year olds standing in line to piss off all that watered down “beer.”
