I’ve seen several British newspaper articles where the person (usually male) was charged and convicted for defending themselves, their property, or — in the most egregious case — their spouse.

In this last case, the judge actually suggested (before pronouncing sentence) that the man should “just have walked away”.

He’s right. Britain really does not recognize self-defense anymore. Which is moral equivalence gone insane. There have been moves to correct this state of affairs but they have faltered and I know not why.
